NaNoWriMo 2018

Hey all. Yes, I’m still alive. Yes, it’s been slow around these parts. I’ve mostly been working on my fanfiction for the last few months. But soon it will be time to return to original fiction. Yup, NaNoWriMo is just around the corner.

For anyone who doesn’t know, NaNoWriMo stands for ‘National Novel Writing Month.’ It’s an organization that challenges participants to write a 50,000 word novel in just one month. There are different ways to accomplish that goal, and the definition of ‘novel’ is very loose, but the whole point is to provide some extra motivation to those who want very much to turn their ideas into reality. I participated last year but didn’t quite get to 50,000 words on a strict basis. I had to supplement my wordcount with my fanfiction writing, but I did get over 50,000 words written during the month. Kaeliterra: Part One was the result.

This year I’m going to have a go at Kaeliterra: Part Two, and I’m going to try and get to 50,000 words solely with original fiction. I aim to post my writing here throughout the month as I complete, hopefully organized into somewhat sensible chapters. Due to the nature of NaNoWriMo (as one giant speedwriting challenge), there are going to be a lot of typos and grammar problems. Even if I meet the goal whatever comes out of it is going to be a (very) rough draft.
